New cakes

I have neglected this blog, even though I know nobody reads it :)  Oh well, that's OK.  It's a bit like therapy to write and post about cakes that you make.

Here's a couple I've done lately.  The first one is one of my FAVE cakes I have made so far.  It is for a 1st birthday "Hoot" themed party

It was my son's 8th birthday recently and we had a "zombie" themed birthday party.  It was a lot of hard work, but I love how everything turned out.  Here is the dessert table I created, and the cake

The cake !!!  3 layers, chocolate mud cake, covered in fondant and filled with chocolate ganache.  All decorations are hand made and edible.   Bailey loved the cake.

Cupcake Bouquets

Here are a few samples of my cupcake bouquets.  They are extremely popular and make a great gift for any occassion - birthday, Mothers Day, get well, new baby and even a wedding cake.  The possibiliites are endless.

The secret to these creations is to use the right type of buttercream.  In them, I don't actually use any butter !!!  Only shortening.  I find that this holds its shape better and doesn't melt off like butter can.  The taste is also light and fluffy.  But be warned.....it does take some getting used to if you are a lover of pure buttercream.

These images are my large bouquets.  They include 20 cupcakes (sometimes a couple more).  I have 3 sizes available - Small, Medium, Large.
